A.C.M.E.’s mission is to build stronger, healthier communities through classical music education in an environment that is founded on the principles of social justice.
In parallel with the internationally acclaimed philosophy of El Sistema, Advocates for Community through Musical Excellence strives to instill lifelong skills such as discipline, ownership and community in its students. By doing so, A.C.M.E. aims to not only nurture dedicated musicians, but responsible, civic leaders who may in turn transform and strengthen families and communities.
With support both near and far, we will complete our mission by providing a complete classical music education, free of charge or at low cost, without discrimination for any student that wishes to study but is limited in financial means.
Starting in the 2012-2013 academic year at Nellie Stone Johnson Community School, A.C.M.E. will commence with 25 first grade students.
